Spring table scapes are a great place to introduce some pretty, pastel colours. Celebrate the change of season by layering creams, whites and other soft colours on your dining table. Think spring and bring in beautiful fresh flowers or willowy branches to your table décor. Create a spring palette in your favourite light shades, with a mix of light colour glass, soft fabric linens and pretty fine china and crystal.
Layer tablecloths or fabrics to achieve a soft, skirted look to the table. If you want to introduce pattern, use a runner or linen place mats on your table too.
Make or buy a set of linen napkins in an attractive patterned fabric.
If you have cream or white ceramic dishes or bowls, now is the time to use them. Mix and match your patterned pieces with solids on the serving bowls and vases. If you’re adding pattern in the table linens, stick with a solid white or cream colour dinner plate.
Add simple flower arrangements. You can go with several small bundles in glass jars if you have a long table. Or if you prefer a more formal look, have a florist make a couple of beautiful spring arrangements for the table. For dinner, it’s best to use flowers without any scent or simply remove the arrangements when the food comes out.
A large display of branches can add height and impact to the table. If you have blossoms on the branches, it really gives that spring feeling. Blossoms can be made from tissue paper and attached to branches.
