Instructions
Method
  1. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions. Cook until soft.
  3. Add the garlic, potato, apple, pork and spices.
  4. Cook, stirring often, until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  5. Deglaze the pan with white wine, scraping the bottom of the pan.
  6. Cook until liquid is mostly evaporated.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  8. Assemble pies as per our Here’s How instructions.
Here’s How: Puff Pastry Hand Pies
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Unroll puff pastry sheets. Cut both sheets into equal parts (for crescent hand pies, cut 4 large circles of pastry).
  2. Place one square of pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place quarter of the filling in the centre.
  3. Brush the edges with the egg wash. Top with another square of pastry. Using a fork, press the edges to seal.
  4. Make three small cuts into the top of the pie to allow steam to escape. Brush with the egg wash. Repeat with remaining pastry. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
