Creating the Perfect Guest Room

The Essentials: How much you include in your guest room is up to you, but don’t make the room too fabulous just in case your overnight guests never want to leave! Extra Blanket: A spare blanket in the room can be used for guests who might prefer a warmer sleeping environment. Bedside Lamp: Providing a lamp in the room can make it easier for your guests to see when getting into bed and it also provides nice ambient light. Nice Sheets: A nice set of sheets on the bed leaves your guests feeling pampered. Also make sure the mattress, pillows and duvet are comfortable. Basket of Travel-size Items: Shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste to name just a few. Alarm Clock: A clock with a radio and alarm can be a great addition for guests. Flashlight with Charger: This can be a nice addition for guests who forget the cords to charge devices. Of course a small flashlight can be helpful for anyone getting up in the dark. Other options to include:
- A robe and slippers
- A stack of towels
- Carafe and glass filled with water

The holidays are a celebratory time of year and you might find yourself with extra overnight guests in your home, planned or otherwise. It can also be a busy, stressful time of year, so, as a responsible host ensuring no one drinks and drives, organizing a guest room ahead of time for any unexpected company is a good idea. There are a few essentials needed to create a comfortable environment for your guests — a few basics include items like a nice set of sheets, soft pillows, a warm duvet and an extra blanket in the room. There are some other luxury items you can include if you want to provide an extra special room, making it a bit more like a luxe, boutique hotel. These items might include things like an alarm clock/radio, a charger or docking station for cell phones, robe or slippers and a small number of bathroom products like a new toothbrush and toothpaste.
